Life on Purpose

The mantra “Life on Purpose” has been my personal cheer line since 2006. Yes, I remember that it was 2006, December to be exact, because that is when my life took a turn that I did not see coming.

I was in my early forties and I was just beginning to see a bit of clear light following a seven-year battle with terminal ovarian cancer. Then, I was hit with the reality of my marriage ending.

As a result of this harsh season of darkness, I know what it is like to be fighting a huge battle and be hit with even more. I knew I had a choice to make and I made a decision that I would overcome and arise, especially since I had overcome the literal fight for my physical life.

So, on that December day I chose to fight forward with my Life on Purpose.

I held on to words of encouragement and support I received throughout my life from many dear ones to me. One of my favorites was from my father as he frequently said, “Never quit, Baby!”

And still to this day, when I need it the most, I hear my mother’s words, “Not everyone is going to be your friend until the end. You just have to go on with your life and purpose.”

As I stand here today, I attest that the outcomes of my life were all worth the fight.

Yes, You Can, Too:

You can make a similar choice during tough times. I know you can. I believe in you. You may be thinking, “You don’t even know me, Devaney!” True, but I don’t have to know you to believe that you can make the choice to Fight Forward.

Here’s Why I Know:

All I know is what I have seen many times, which is the tenacity of the human spirit to survive and to thrive. This is because the human spirit is formidable and fierce. It is a fighting warrior.

First Step:

You must make the choice to take your first step into your Life Change.

Rise Up:

“Rise up! Take up your ‘bed’ of sorrow, affliction, pain, anger, trouble, and anything that is holding you back and follow along with me as I follow The One who leads and guides me every second of the way.”

It will be worth every effort you will make and every step you will take. You’ll see for yourself in time.
